About the event
Lost Person Behavior Course
The Lost Person Behavior SAR Planning Course is a two day workshop to support search planning for both ground searchers and command staff. Participants will leave with knowledge, skills, and confidence to create a strategic and tactical plan for their next missing persons operation. Using Dr. Robert Koester’s LPB model, participants will learn about statistical modeling as well as other contemporary modeling techniques to create a search area and write tasks which correspond to prioritization. The instructor is Jeff Wadley with the Backcountry Unit Search and Rescue Team (BUSAR) in the Smokies. Jeff has been in SAR for 43 years and brings a great deal of experience to this course. Participants will want to download the LPB App into their phone/tablet and will want to have knowledge of SARTopo. Students will be given a text, a map problem workbook, and many handouts.
