This course deals specifically with the hazards and rescue techniques related to grain bin incidents. Though a mixture of classroom and hands on training with grain rescue equipment, students will gain an introduction to the dangers, intricate challenges, and specialized equipment required.

Grain Bin Safety/Rescue Awareness Level Course - Specifically for Haywood, Hardeman, Madison, McNairy and Fayette Counties only.
This course is specifically designed for ALL persons working in, around, or responding to a grain bin, grain handling, or grain storage facility. This course will educate responders and producers about grain storage facility types, operating features, construction and hazards to responders. Physical/environmental hazards and potential rescue resources are identified and targeted specifically for entry into grain bins. Scene management and safety are discussed along with locating, securing, packaging, and moving the victim. An introduction to various types of required specialized equipment to deal with incidents involving grain bin emergencies, firefighting aspects, and patient packaging devices are demonstration in hands on activities.

Pre-requisites: None
Required PPE: Approved helmet or hard hat, long pants, gloves, safety glasses, and appropriate footwear are required. It is also recommended the student bring a simple dust mask or face covering.
Cost: The tuition for this course is sponsored by donations and grants for Haywood, Hardeman, Madison, McNairy, and Fayette Counties only.
